About us
BiteSite was founded in 2012 in Ottawa, Canada and started as a general service company offering a wide range of services including Web Design and Development, Photography, Graphic Design, Video production and more. Over the years, we've learned a lot and found out what we excel at and what customers gain most from our services. From that, we narrowed our focus to Custom Software - building custom solutions for customers’ specific needs. While we are capable of many platforms, we specialize in full-stack Web Applications and iOS and Android applications.
Our beliefs
Transparency
We place honesty amongst ourselves and with our clients above business, money, or conflict. At BiteSite, we don’t shy away from speaking our mind, because we know the best teams are made up of authentic people who value collaboration and focus on solving problems together. We strive for open, honest, and frequent communication so that clients are never surprised.
Flexibility
The reality is, it's very hard to predict how well a product, or even a client relationship, will do. Whether it be personalities, working style, or environment, there are a lot of factors that have to line up for a successful project. Over the years, we’ve learned to only implement what we found most useful, throw out what we found unnecessary, and add our own processes when needed.
Predictability
We work best when there is a well structured, defined process that still allows for agile flexibility. We believe that small, frequent releases are better than waiting for the ‘perfect’ software. We take the MVP approach to most things. We include clients in our release Sprints and improve on projects iteratively.
Our process
We believe that all good software begins with a good process. Whether you have small updates to make, a short project, or on-going needs, we follow a process that maximizes the effectiveness of your software.

Getting to know you and your project
We like to welcome all types of people with diverse backgrounds when it comes to our staff, our clients, and anybody else we work with. Everybody has their own working style that we respect, but before embarking on a new project together, we like to make sure that we’ll be a good fit for each other so that you can take the best approach for your project.

MVP Sprint Planning
While all our contracts are setup to be open-ended, for first time clients, we usually like to define a set of some concrete short-term goals. Typically, these projects are setup to be about 1-3 months and have a short list of features. These projects can often be viewed as a Minimal Viable Product (MVP). A general timeline and checkin meetings are setup.

Design & Development
Our typical design and development cycles center around fixed, predictable chunks of time (usually 1 week) called Sprints. Every Sprint starts with a planning session where the entire team decides what is going to be designed, developed, tested and delivered. We manage our Sprints using Trello cards, that our clients are able to view the progress of and add feedback to.
-
Test & Iterate
As Product Managers start to test a new feature, there are two outcomes. Either the feature will be acceptable and will be approved, or the feature will need some tweaks. If the feature needs tweaks, the product managers will send it back to be fixed. This cycle continues until everything gets approved.
Our playbook
We put our everyday practices into an openly available and constantly evolving playbook. We hope this helps put everyone on the same page and help you understand what it’s like to work with us.
